Steve Temme is the founder and President of Listen, Inc., the company behind the SoundCheck audio test system. For more than 30 years, Listen has been at the forefront of audio measurement research, pioneering new algorithms and techniques that have since become industry standards. Prior to founding Listen, Steve worked for many years as an electroacoustic test and measurement applications engineer at Brüel & Kjær, and also as a loudspeaker design engineer at Apogee Acoustics. He holds a BSME from Tufts University, has authored numerous papers on acoustic testing, and has lectured extensively throughout the world.
Everyone in audio test recognizes the ‘zip’ of the Stweep, one of the world’s most ubiquitous audio test signals. But did you know it’s 30 years old this year and that it was developed by Steve Temme?
The Stweep™ made its debut in the first commercially available version of SoundCheck, launched in 1995. Since then, it has been adopted on thousands of production lines and in development labs worldwide and is still the stimulus of choice for testing a wide range of electroacoustic products, ranging from simple speaker drivers to complex automotive infotainment systems.

This year, Listen released SoundCheck 23, a new feature-rich update to its flagship audio test software. SoundCheck 23 includes many new features for both R&D and production users, including real-time tonal masking curves for detailed perceptual audio analysis, a new multichannel oscilloscope, and a new time/ frequency cursor for recorded Stweep waveforms. This update also introduces support for AudioConnect 8x8, Listen’s latest multichannel interface. SoundCheck 23 also improves performance, particularly for graphical display, and updates the sequence editor for faster test development.
This webinar is also a unique opportunity to learn and clarify doubts about audio test and measurement. Join the live session, submit your questions on YouTube, the APDA LinkedIn, or the WhatsApp groups.
